On June 16–20, 2025, the UN International Center in Vienna (Austria) hosted the resumed sixteenth session of the Review Group on the Implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption and the sixteenth meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Corruption Prevention. The National Agency for Asset Tracing and Management was represented at the events by Deputy Chairman Pavlo Velykorechanin.
The participants reviewed the progress of the second phase of the Implementation Review Mechanism, in particular the issues of its financial and organizational support, as well as mechanisms for providing technical assistance to participating states.
During joint discussions with the working group on corruption prevention, attention was focused on key areas:
- combating corruption linked to organized criminal groups
- protecting whistleblowers
- transparency of beneficial ownership
- digital solutions to enhance integrity in public procurement
- ensuring ethical standards in the judicial system
- engaging business in the implementation of anti-corruption practices.
"It is particularly important for ARMA to participate in international discussions on asset recovery. Chapter V of the UN Convention against Corruption is a guideline that allows us to develop a systematic approach to the return of stolen assets. Exchanging experience with partners, introducing innovations, and strengthening institutional cooperation are strategic tasks that we implement through such platforms," said Pavlo Velykorechanin.
ARMA's participation in events of this level is an integral part of the international anti-corruption dialogue and an important tool for building partnerships with UN institutions and member states of the Convention. The Agency consistently promotes Ukraine's interests in the Finding, Tracing , and Recovery of illegally transferred assets.
