Today, on February 28, 2024, the Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, held fruitful talkswith the Head of the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the Republicof Moldova, Pavel Calpajiu.
"The experience of post-Soviet countries is very similar, the issues of fightingcorruption and overcoming challenges have common roots," said the Head ofARMA.
Pavel Calpajiu shared the experience of the Republic of Moldova in freezingassets, as well as the possibility of seizing assets in criminal proceedings, which isnot typical for the Agency in Ukraine.
Olena Duma noted that this experience could be useful for ARMA inimplementing new provisions in Ukrainian legislation.
In addition, Pavel Calpajiu described the process of valuation of seized assets inMoldova, noting that the Agency has the authority to evaluate and determine thevalue of seized assets, which simplifies their management without the need tospend money on the part of business or the state. Olena Duma proposed theinitiative to sign an interagency agreement on cooperation between the agencies. ARMA has already prepared and submitted a draft agreement to the Moldovanside.
