On December 11, 2018 ARMA received observer status in the Balkan Asset Management Inter-agency Network (BAMIN). This is an informal network of experts and practitioners in the field of asset management, obtained by criminal means.
According to the Head of ARMA Anton Yanchuk, cooperation with the network will improve cross-border and inter-agency cooperation in the exchange of information on the management of illicit assets between institutions similar to ARMA, both in the Balkan region and beyond.
Currently, BAMIN includes 11 jurisdictions. Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom (Wilsons Auctions) also have observer status in this network.
Among the main tasks of BAMIN:
- strengthening international cooperation among asset management offices, law enforcement and judicial agencies;
- systematization, formation and dissemination of the best world practice of asset management obtained by illegal means;
- assistance in increase the efficiency of management, sale and return of the assets obtained by criminal means in different jurisdictions;
- strengthening cooperation between public authorities and the private sector in this area.
