ARMA and NACP agreed to strengthen cooperation on asset tracing in Ukraine and abroad

17-05-2024

The Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, had an important meeting with the Head of the NACP, Viktor Pavlushchyk. The key common task of the two anti-corruption agencies was to discuss the mechanisms of cooperation between the NACP and the ARMA to find and trace unjustified assets not only in Ukraine but also abroad.

The Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, said that cooperation with the NACP should strengthen ARMA's work on tracing the assets of officials who have used their official positions in senior positions in public authorities to embezzle state budget funds. It is an important mission for both institutions to trace such illegally acquired property and return it on behalf of the state.

‘We will do everything possible to ensure that, at the request of the NACP, we not only find the property transferred abroad and hidden, but also that it works for the state. For this purpose, we will use all possible tools available in different parts of the world,’ said the Head of ARMA.

The head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, Viktor Pavlushchyk, said that the ARMA could strengthen the NAPC's ability to trace assets abroad in cases of unjustified assets in conducting full checks of declarations.

‘ARMA can strengthen the NACP in tracing assets abroad in cases of unjustified assets as part of monitoring lifestyles and conducting complete declarations checks. The volume of exchange of information and other aspects of cooperation between the two anti-corruption agencies will be enshrined in the relevant memorandum,’ said the NACP head.

Olena Duma also briefed the meeting participants on the initiated amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine, as well as the initiative to obtain clarifications from the Plenum of the Supreme Court on the application of the special law on ARMA in the HACC decisions.
