The National Agency was represented at the conference by Deputy Head of ARMA for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization (CDTO) Stanislav Petrov. Today, on June 12, he spoke about ARMA's practical cases in asset recovery.
During the conference, participants discussed the strengthening of asset recovery and tracing measures in accordance with the UN Convention against Corruption, best practices and challenges in the field of beneficial ownership information to detect, deter and prevent corruption.
In his speech, the Deputy Head of ARMA spoke about the main areas of ARMA work, achievements over the past year and international cooperation with Interpol, Europol, EPAC, StAR, CARIN, BAMIN, EUPOL, and operation OSCAR. Separately, he focused on the issue of high-value russian assets traced by ARMA abroad, particularly in the EU.
In his words, finding, tracing and management of russian assets abroad are highly important, as the assets of individuals involved in the russian aggression are a significant resource that plays a key role in the restoration of Ukraine.
“russian assets located outside the territory of Ukraine are a significant resource that can and should be used for damage compensation to Ukraine caused by the war started by russia”, stressed Stanislav Petrov.
Stanislav Petrov called on international colleagues to intensify cooperation in asset recovery by establishing direct interaction between ARMA and the relevant authorities of UN member states and to participate in the Peace Summit which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland, supporting the 10-step peace plan proposed by the President of Ukraine.
