The Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) conducted a comprehensive trainingsession on anti-corruption legislation and integrity development for newly appointed staff. Thetraining was led by ARMA’s Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Pavlo Shmyhora, as part of theagency's ongoing efforts to raise professional standards and ethical awareness among its personnel.
The session covered key provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On the Prevention of Corruption,” including requirements for asset declarations, conflict of interest regulations, restrictions onreceiving gifts, rules of ethical conduct, and accountability for violations of anti-corruptionlegislation.
Special attention was paid to the specific nature of ARMA's work with seized assets and theelevated standards of integrity required of its employees.
“Since the second half of 2023, we have renewed 80% of the agency’s staff, bringing inprofessionals from various fields. Everyone joining ARMA must understand not only theirprofessional duties but also the significant responsibility that comes with working for an anti-corruption body. Working at ARMA is both a great honor and a profound responsibility. Ourreputation is built on the integrity of each employee,” said Head of ARMA Olena Duma.
During the training, participants explored practical case studies related to potential corruption risksand strategies for avoiding them. They also received guidance on reporting potential violations andlearned about whistleblower protection mechanisms.
The Anti-Corruption Commissioner emphasized that such trainings will become regular practice, asthe best way to prevent violations is to ensure thorough understanding of the law and to foster a strong legal culture.
ARMA is a key institution within Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure, responsible for tracing, identifying, and managing assets obtained through corruption and other crimes. Ensuring theintegrity of its employees remains a top internal policy priority for ARMA.
