04-09-2026

On 7 September 2026, the European Asset Recovery Strategy Forum will take place – the first international expert forum dedicated to national asset recovery strategies.

The Forum is being held in the context of the entry into force of Directive (EU) 2024/1260, which provides for the development by Member States of national asset recovery strategies and creates new opportunities to discuss approaches to their preparation, implementation and execution, exchange of practical experience and strengthen international cooperation.

The Forum will include:

• presentation of the work carried out on the National Asset Recovery Strategy of Ukraine for 2026–2030;

• discussion of the requirements of Directive (EU) 2024/1260 and international standards for strategic planning in the field of asset recovery;

• exchange of experience among states on the development and implementation of national strategies, identification of strategic priorities, mechanisms for interagency coordination and monitoring of their implementation;

• defining the role of international organisations in supporting the development and implementation of strategies;

• development of recommendations for further strengthening international cooperation and establishing a permanent expert platform on national asset recovery strategies.

The European Asset Recovery Strategy Forum will serve as a platform for exchanging practical experience, finding common solutions and shaping a European vision of an effective asset recovery system.

The Forum aims to bring together representatives of EU Member States and candidate countries, EU institutions, the Council of Europe, international, expert and donor organisations, as well as Ukrainian state authorities responsible for implementing Ukraine’s Asset Recovery Strategy.
