Acting Head of ARMA Yaroslava Maksymenko took part in the XI International Business Protection Forum organised by «Legal Practice». During her speech, she spoke about the role of ARMA in the wartime economy, the asset recovery system, sanctions policy and preserving the economic potential of the state.
Yaroslava Maksymenko emphasised that ARMA traces assets in Ukraine and abroad, establishes links between them and their owners and ensures the preservation of the economic value of seized property. “War also has an economic dimension — it is a struggle for resources, capital and assets. ARMA’s task is to ensure that during the period of seizure and management, an asset does not lose its value and, following a court decision, can continue to contribute to Ukraine’s economy”, Yaroslava Maksymenko said.
The Acting Head of ARMA also emphasised the Agency’s reform, which introduced the division of assets into simple and complex assets, new approaches to determining the management model and selecting professional managers. One of the first cases being implemented under the new procedure was the IDS Ukraine group, linked to sanctioned Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman. Following the electronic auction, the automated system determined the winner of the auction, who is currently undergoing the further stages provided for by the procedure. The implementation of this case is intended to ensure the continued operation of the asset for the benefit of the Ukrainian economy and demonstrates the practical application of the new model for managing seized assets. Russian capital and influence have no place in Ukraine.
