ARMA and ANABI: a partnership that builds international trust

25-11-2024

At the General Assembly of CARIN (Camden Asset Recovery Inter-agency Network), the Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency of Ukraine (ARMA), Olena Duma, met with the General Director of the National Agency for the Management of Seized Assets of Romania (ANABI), Cornel Calinescu. This meeting was another confirmation of the strong partnership between the two organizations that was established earlier.

The cooperation between ARMA and ANABI began with the signing of an international interagency agreement during a working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Romania. The document demonstrated the readiness of both parties to cooperate closely in the field of tracing and management of seized assets.

The signing of the international interagency agreement was attended by the Deputy Head of ARMA for European Integration Grigol Katamadze and ANABI Director General Cornel Calinescu. During the visit, the ARMA delegation also visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania and met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania Ihor Prokopchuk.

During the CARIN General Assembly, Olena Duma emphasized ARMA's successes in the context of the war and stressed the importance of international cooperation. “Thanks to partnerships such as with ANABI, we not only increase the effectiveness of ARMA's work, but also strengthen the credibility of Ukraine at the international level,” she said.

The meeting with Cornel Calinescu once again demonstrated the importance of mutual exchange of experience and coordination of efforts in the fight against illicit financial flows. This partnership has already become a model of international cooperation working to strengthen the rule of law and transparency.
