Today, July 16, 2024, the Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) of Ukraine held a bilateral online meeting with the General Director of the Recover Assets Management Company Limited Liability Partnership of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, spoke about the key achievements and acquired experience of the National Agency, in particular, about the effective mechanisms of asset recovery and management, which were developed and implemented in Ukraine. Separately, she focused on the issues of identification, search and realization of assets obtained through criminal means, which are located outside of Ukraine.
"Currently, the National Agency is strengthening international cooperation regarding the search for assets abroad, and in the future this work will only develop," Olena Duma emphasized.
The representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan were interested in the sale of a valuable asset abroad - the yacht "Royal Romance", as well as the procedures initiated by the Agency, according to which the process of selling this asset takes place.
The head of ARMA noted that the sale of the "Royal Romance" yacht will become a precedent for further work on the sale of seized assets abroad.
"This will be an impetus to work in this direction on a permanent basis and to show other countries that the sanctions mechanisms work and it is possible to sell assets abroad. No one has done this yet," said Olena Duma.
Kuanishbek Mukash highly appreciated ARMA's activities and expressed interest in using Ukrainian experience. The parties discussed cooperation in the management of seized or confiscated assets within the framework of anti-corruption measures and specific mechanisms for increasing the transparency and efficiency of the management of such assets.
The meeting ended with the signing of the International Interdepartmental Agreement, which establishes the main areas of cooperation between ARMA and the Assets Management Company Limited Liability Partnership of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This agreement was an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan and opens up new opportunities for both countries in the field of asset recovery and management.
The head of ARMA expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for the constructive dialogue and noted that the signed agreement will become the basis for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation.
