The delegation of the National Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), headed by Anna Makarenko, Director of the Department of Finding, Tracing and Recovery of Assets in Foreign Jurisdictions, took part in an international seminar on Interpol's “Silver Notice” pilot project, a new global tool for identifying and confiscating criminal assets. This project is the first Interpol project to bring together asset recovery offices, financial intelligence, police and prosecutors to effectively trace and seize illicit assets.
The event was opened by the Director of the Public Security Bureau of the Republic of North Macedonia, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the fight against corruption and cybercrime.
During the seminar, an active discussion took place on the legal framework and practical aspects of using Silver Notice in each participating country. Representatives of the states discussed the possibilities of strengthening international cooperation mechanisms and further development of the initiative.
ARMA is highly interested in the development of this mechanism, as the project opens up new opportunities for Ukraine in the field of international information exchange, accelerating asset tracing and effective cooperation with foreign partners.
During the seminar, Anna Makarenko presented ARMA's capabilities in asset tracingand identification, as well as the agency's role in the system of combating cross-border crime. She also emphasized ARMA's readiness for effective cooperation within the framework of the Silver Notice project and Ukraine's contribution to the global fight against illicit financial flows.
In addition, the seminar included working meetings with representatives of the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Estonia, and the “Silver Notice” project coordinators. These talks are aimed at strengthening international cooperation, sharing experiences and developing mechanisms for the effective use of the new Interpol tool.
The seminar was closed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Panče Toshkovski, who emphasized that only fruitful cooperation of all competent authorities can ensure effective tracing and confiscation of criminal assets at both the national and international levels.
The seminar became an important platform for discussing ways to improve international cooperation in financial investigations and combating illicit financial flows.
