A meeting was held between the leadership of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) and Luc Jacobs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, gave a detailed presentation of ARMA's activities, focusing on key achievements, such as transforming the selection of asset managers and increasing trust among international partners. Olena Duma noted that despite the significant results, ARMA faces numerous challenges that require international support.
“Despite the successes achieved, ARMA faces numerous challenges that require international support. We have a clear vision of where we need to improve and what we need to do. Together with partners like the Kingdom of Belgium, we can find effective solutions,” she emphasized.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Luc Jacobs expressed his support for Ukraine and its efforts in the fight against corruption. He appreciated to have been thoroughly briefed on AMRA’s strategy and achievements so far in creating a more transparent and effective asset management system. He emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue between the two countries and Belgium's readiness to assist Ukraine in strengthening its legal institutions.
The meeting was held on the eve of the first online meeting scheduled for October 8 between ARMA and the Central Office for Seizure and Confiscation of the Kingdom of Belgium (COSC). The meeting will focus on bilateral cooperation, the possibility of exchanging experience and working together in the framework of international programs.
The Head of ARMA expressed confidence that cooperation with COSC will bring significant results in the fight against organized crime and transnational corruption. And Deputy Head of ARMA Grigol Katamadze added about 6 signed international interagency agreements with foreign colleagues this year, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation.
The Head of the National Agency thanked Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Luc Jacobs for his support and active participation in the development of Ukrainian-Belgian relations: “The cooperation between ARMA and the Central Office for Seizure and Confiscation of the Kingdom of Belgium has great potential and will be an important step in strengthening the anti-corruption and asset management institutions of our countries.”
