The Asset Recovery and Management Agency represented Ukraine at the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ). Representing ARMA at the event was David-Soslan Alkhanishvili, Head of the International Technical Assistance Coordination Department.
The session focused on the protection of cultural heritage and environment as well as the implementation of UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (CCPCJ) and UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
In his address, David-Soslan Alkhaniashvili presented successful ARMA’s experience in asset tracing and management:
assets worth over UAH 200 billion linked to corruption-related offences have been identified in Ukraine,
over USD 100 billion in assets traced abroad,
a scheme for the withdrawal of petroleum products worth over UAH 6 billion has been identified,
in cooperation with Europol and the CARIN network, assets were identified in foreign jurisdictions, including the US and Romania,
106 international requests were processed by ARMA — 158% more than in 2023,
the first time, ARMA opened public access to the Unified Register of Arrested Assets and began the process of global modernization in line with current requirements.
Due to transparent auction procedures, the volume of seized assets sold has tripled, resulting in increased revenues to the state budget.
ARMA continues to demonstrate that efficient asset management is an effective anti-corruption instrument, enabling the recovery of billions for the state. Therefore, representing ARMA at the 34th of the UN Commission was David-Soslan Alkhanishvili called on the partners to strengthen international cooperation globally for transparent recovery of assets derived from illegal activities worldwide.
