The Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) has successfully sold the first 16 paintings from the seized collection of high-profile traitor Viktor Medvedchuk through the Prozorro.Prodazhi system. The total amount from the sale of these paintings amounted to almost 317 thousand UAH. Earlier, part of the collection of 136 paintings was estimated at almost 4 million hryvnias.
The most expensive lot among the works sold today was the painting “Rural Landscape with a River Against a Background of Mountains”, sold for 76 thousand UAH. All lots were sold through the Prozorro.Prodazhi system in full compliance with the procedures.
“All the proceeds from the sale of Medvedchuk's collection will be used to support the economy and the purchase of military bonds, i.e., to directly support the state's defense capability. It's only fair that the illegally acquired property of traitors and collaborators works for the state,” commented Olena Duma, Head of the ARMA.
Currently, 120 paintings are waiting for their new owners during the next auction. Starting today, a part of the paintings will be sold every day. The next 19 paintings will be sold tomorrow! Potential buyers can follow the updates on Prozorro.Prodazhi.
It is important to note: Out of 285 Medvedchuk's paintings seized and transferred to ARMA, 149 were recognized as Ukraine's cultural heritage by experts from the National Art Museum. These works were planned to be transferred to Ukrainian museums, but the relevant draft law No. 11280-1 on the specifics of managing cultural property did not find sufficient support among MPs.
Earlier, the ARMA had already successfully sold other seized assets of Medvedchuk, including a collection of expensive watches, a Maybach car, ATVs and buggies.
