27-02-2024

Head of ARMA Olena Duma took part in the first meeting of the Steering Group of the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN), which is taking place on February 27-28 in Skopje, North Macedonia.

"Today Ukraine is represented among the countries of the Balkan region. For me, as the Head of ARMA, this is not just a task or mission, it is the first meeting of the BAMIN 2024 Steering Group and the first expert review held in Skopje," said Olena Duma.

According to her, ARMA is now a member of the BAMIN Steering Committee, whose agenda includes discussions on critical global issues, including

- strategies for managing seized assets globally and the application of sanctions mechanisms;

- policy in the field of cryptocurrencies, in particular, presentation of the Ukrainian position on the possibilities of managing them;

- development and approval of an individual work plan for each of the member countries for 2024;

- expanding the BAMIN Supervisory Board to include UNICEF and CARIN as members.

In her speech, Olena Duma called on the participants to pay attention to the high achievements of ARMA in implementing mechanisms of cooperation with global and international organizations, especially in the first cases of asset sales abroad.

The Head of ARMA called on the member states of the Balkan region to support the already legalized decision of the national court and express strong support for the European country, which is not only a member of the EU, but will be able to fulfill the long-awaited task for the first time, when traitors, criminals and collaborators will be held economically responsible. "Expensive property obtained by criminal means, acquired with the blood of Ukrainians, should be used in the fight against the aggressor and criminals," Olena Duma said.

On September 21, 2023, ARMA became a member of the Supervisory Board of the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN). The main goal of BAMIN is to increase the efficiency of management, sale or other form of disposal of seized or confiscated assets.

As of today, BAMIN includes 20 jurisdictions, including Ukraine.
