$38 million for the country's defense capability: ARMA purchases Military Bonds with foreign currency for the first time

03-07-2024

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the purchase of military bonds by ARMA for a record amount of almost USD 38 million. This includes USD 31 million and EUR 6.5 million of seized funds that are held on ARMA's accounts.

The Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency noted that, according to preliminary estimates, the state budget could receive almost UAH 64 million from this purchase.

"In the future, the proceeds from the military bonds, which is almost 4% per annum of the amount of bonds purchased, will be transferred to the state budget of Ukraine. This amount can reach 1.6 million dollars, which is equivalent to almost 64 million hryvnias," emphasized Olena Duma.

In general, in 6 months of 2024, ARMA received UAH 432 million from the purchase of military bonds, which will replenish the state budget.

As a reminder, on May 14, the President of Ukraine signed a law that expanded ARMA's powers to acquire military bonds using seized foreign currency.
