ARMA is waiting for a court decision on June 20 regarding the renewal of the license for gas production at the Sakhalin field

11-06-2024

Today, June 11, a meeting of the Sixth administrative court of Appeal was held regarding the issue of resuming gas production at the Sakhalin oil and gas condensate field. During the ARMA meeting, the agency's representatives were involved by a third party in the legal process. The Agency's interests were represented in court by ARMA Deputy Chairman Pavlo Velikorechanin and departmental lawyers.

We will remind you that for the past six months, ARMA has been consistently working in the interests of the state to renew the process of gas extraction at the Sakhalin field. For this purpose, the National Agency has already:

  • The Prosecutor General's Office was requested to intervene in the situation with the Sakhalin deposit to protect state interests;
  • Appealed to the National Security and Defense Council with a request to resolve the issue of gas production at the Sakhalin field;
  • Appealed to the Supreme Court with a cassation appeal against the decision of the Sixth administrative court of appeal regarding the suspension of gas production;
  • Initiated a number of changes to the Code of Ukraine "Pro nadra";
  • Initiated and held working meetings with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee on environmental policy and nature management, representatives of the Ministry of environmental protection and natural resources of Ukraine, the State geology and subsoil service of Ukraine, and "VK Ukrnaftoburinnia";
  • Took part in the court session on June 11, 2024 regarding the renewal of the license for gas production at the Sakhalin field.

At the same time, it became impossible to make a legal decision regarding license renewal today, as representatives of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine did not appear at the court session, whose attendance was mandatory. This case was adjourned to June 20, 2024.

"We are waiting for a fair decision of the court during the next session, which will be held on June 20. We call on all participants in the process to be present at the next meeting, so that we all have the opportunity to defend the interests of the state in court," said deputy head of ARMA  Pavlo Velikorechanin.
