ARMA and CBA of Poland sign strategic agreement: Tracing of criminal assets takes a new level

10-12-2024

ARMA is launching a new stage of cooperation with the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Republic of Poland (CBA). The agencies have signed an international interagency agreement aimed at creating new joint mechanisms for finding and tracing criminal assets between the two countries.

“This is a completely new page in the relations between the anti-corruption agencies of Ukraine and Poland. Corruption has no borders, which is why we must act united and decisively. From now on, it will be even more difficult to hide criminal assets. We already have specific cases on which we can cooperate to ensure that criminals bear real economic responsibility and that illegally withdrawn funds are returned and work for the state,” said Olena Duma.

The agreement was signed during a working visit of the ARMA delegation to the Republic of Poland, in particular, the international conference “Asset Declaration - Unification, Digitalization, Control” organized by CBA. This agreement is the seventh international agreement concluded by ARMA this year.

“The signing of the agreement between CBA and ARMA is not just a formality, but the beginning of a qualitatively new stage of our cooperation. Our agencies have a lot in common not only in terms of tasks, but also in the desire to make corruption unprofitable,” said CBA Director Agnieszka Kwiatkowska.

From now on, the agencies will develop joint mechanisms for asset tracing, strengthen the exchange of experience and introduce joint exercises and trainings.

As part of the strategy to recover illegally withdrawn funds, ARMA plans to hold another series of meetings in Poland with representatives of local law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies. Yesterday, the Head of ARMA already met with Jacek Bilewicz, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Poland, and Jarosław Strożyck, Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service of the Republic of Poland.

We remind that back in September, Andrii Pozniak, Advisor to the Head of ARMA, and Yuliia Kvitko, Head of ARMA Communications Department, held the first working meeting with Polish colleagues at the CBA headquarters.
