ARMA and PGO improve cooperation mechanisms for effective management of seized assets

15-11-2024

At the initiative of the leadership of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), the Head of the National Agency, Olena Duma, met with representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office. During the working meeting, the parties discussed the interaction between the two institutions in terms of providing international legal assistance and amending legislation to regulate the mechanisms for the sale and management of seized property in criminal proceedings.

“We have to work out the mechanisms taking into account the current legislative changes and the realities of the work of state bodies during the war. Such jointly developed mechanisms will speed up the process of realization of assets and their transfer to management both in Ukraine and abroad,” said the Head of ARMA Olena Duma.

As an example, she cited the case of the sale of viktor medvedchuk's seized yacht abroad, where ARMA and the PGO should act as a single mechanism to return stolen funds to Ukraine.

In addition, the meeting discussed the development of ways of cooperation during the signing of transfer and acceptance certificates for assets already sold and the issue of preserving seized assets until they are sold or transferred to a new manager.

Olena Duma emphasized that ARMA has transformed itself over the past year, radically changing the approaches and processes of managing seized assets. The results of such changes are already tangible for the budget - it is + 12 billion UAH from the management of seized assets. Of these, 8 billion UAH was allocated by ARMA to purchase government bonds, which strengthens our Defense Forces.
