The second day of the ARMA delegation's participation in the CARIN Annual General Assembly was marked by intensive work at a practical workshop where ARO/AMO representatives from different countries worked together to analyze a criminal case. Participants discussed possible approaches to identifying and tracing the assets of suspects, demonstrating the exchange of experience and best practices.
The Ukrainian delegation, which is led by the Head of ARMA Olena Duma, took an active part in the event. Olena Duma presented the key areas of ARMA's activities, focusing on its role in identifying, tracing and recovering assets.
Anna Makarenko, Acting Director of the Department of Finding, Tracing and Recovery of Assets in Foreign Jurisdictions, shared information on ARMA's access to the state registers of Ukraine containing data on the assets of individuals. She also spoke about the agency's additional capabilities, including access to banking information, which is extremely important in the investigation process. This topic aroused considerable interest among the workshop participants, as quick access to such data contributes to the efficiency of asset tracing.
The foreign colleagues highly appreciated the work of the Ukrainian agency, noting that the information provided by ARMA is of high quality, complete and timely. Such feedback once again confirms the authority and reliability of the National Agency at the international level.
During the event, ARMA representatives held a number of productive working meetings with representatives of Latvia, Poland, Monaco and Jersey. The agreements reached between the Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, and the Latvian delegation are worth mentioning. The Latvian side was represented by Natalija Kivleniece, Asset Recovery Specialist at the State Police of Latvia. The parties agreed to expand cooperation and prepare for the signing of a memorandum of cooperation. The Latvian partners were interested in ARMA's activities in the field of asset tracing and management. Latvia expressed a desire to study the Ukrainian experience and create a similar system in their country.
Monaco is also ready to sign an international agreement with the ARMA, which was confirmed by Police Captain Pierre-Greguerard Quif. From now on, the hidden “Monaco battalion” will be worked out in detail.
This day was a confirmation of the importance of Ukraine's participation in international platforms such as CARIN to strengthen interaction with partners, implement best international practices and form new prospects for cooperation. ARMA continues to demonstrate its openness and professionalism, which contributes to strengthening international trust in Ukraine.
