ARMA Head Olena Duma and Deputy Head Pavlo Velykorechanin held a working meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv. The event was also attended by the heads of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency's (ARMA) Investigations, Legal and Communications Departments.
This meeting was a continuation of the establishment of cooperation between the Ukrainian ARMA and representatives of partner countries within the Agency's competence.
In particular, Deputy Head of ARMA Pavlo Velykorechanin explained to his Polish colleagues the essence and issues of Ukrainian legislation on criminal and sanctions legislation and provided information on ARMA's legislative initiatives in this regard
The heads of the Asset Finding and Tracing Departments spoke about the procedure for cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in identifying and tracing the assets of sanctioned persons both in Ukraine and abroad. In particular, they discussed ARMA's participation in the OSCAR operation within the EUROPOL network, which involves both Ukraine and Poland.
In addition, at the request of law enforcement agencies, ARMA has the ability to trace assets around the world. Today, the National Agency cooperates with 88 countries and 54 international institutions in asset tracing and recovery. ARMA's partners include: The Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN), the Camden Asset Recovery Interagency Network (CARIN) Secretariat, Europol's SIENA network platform and many others.
The Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, noted that strengthening cooperation with international partners significantly improves the Agency's efficiency, which directly affects the strengthening of Ukraine's defense, as the money ARMA receives is used to purchase military bonds.
“The example of cooperation with Poland can serve as a precedent for the implementation of the decision to manage funds abroad, as the process of transferring the seized 5 million USD to the Agency's account is currently underway. We are counting on the mutual assistance of our Polish colleagues to resolve this issue,” emphasized the Head of the National Agency.
Wojciech Zajączkowski, Director of the Eastern Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, expressed interest in the work of the Ukrainian Agency and expressed readiness to assist in establishing working contacts between ARMA and representatives of Polish law enforcement agencies to resolve this issue.
Earlier, ARMA Head Olena Duma met with the Head of the Polish Mission to Ukraine Piotr Łukasiewicz, where the key topic of discussion was strengthening cooperation between ARMA and the CBA of Poland.
