Corruption at the border: ARMA searches for hundreds of millions of hryvnias, cars, real estate and weapons of suspects

15-11-2024

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, ARMA has processed about 700 requests from law enforcement agencies in criminal proceedings related to the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine. The suspects include officials and employees of various government agencies. The assets currently sought by the ARMA include:

700 units of vehicles

390 units of residential real estate

138 units of non-residential real estate

146 units of weapons

544 land plots

12 units of sea and river transport

19 units of agricultural machinery

Shares in authorized capital for UAH 392.6 million

14.7 million UAH on the bank accounts of the suspects

“Corruption is unacceptable, especially in times of war. Illegal transportation of persons across the border is one of the most urgent criminal offenses under martial law. We promptly respond to requests from law enforcement and other anti-corruption agencies to identify and trace the assets of those involved in such cases. Every hryvnia stolen by corrupt officials must be returned to the state, and ARMA is able to ensure this through the effective management of such seized assets,” said Pavlo Velykorechanin, Deputy Head of ARMA.

The information on the identified assets has already been transferred to the pre-trial investigation authorities for taking measures to seize the identified assets and transfer them to the management of the ARMA.
