Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), Olena Duma, held a working meeting to discuss the challenges of preparing the draft Roadmap for the negotiating chapter 24 “Justice, Freedom and Security”, in particular in the area of fighting organized crime.
The event was attended by representatives of key government agencies, including the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Supreme Court, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Bureau of Economic Security, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the National Police of Ukraine.
The key issues discussed during the meeting included the following:
- Bringing the confiscation procedure, civil forfeiture of property and confiscation of unjustified assets in line with European legislation.
- Improving the confiscation process and strengthening interagency cooperation.
Olena Duma noted: “The Roadmap should be a guiding document for reforming Ukraine's legal system, not just a list of individual measures, and should address practical aspects related to confiscation.”
