The annual General Assembly of CARIN, a key international network that brings together law enforcement and asset recovery agencies, has come to an end. This event has become an important platform for sharing experiences and strengthening partnerships between participants, including the Ukrainian delegation represented by ARMA headed by the Head of the National Agency Olena Duma.
The day started with a speech by Olivier Jordan, representative of the French PIAC, who expressed his gratitude for the cooperation during the French CARIN Chairmanship for a year. Next, Alex Pere, a representative of the European Financial and Economic Crime Center (EFICC) within Europol, spoke about the investigation of cryptocurrency-related crimes.
During the event, Jill Thomas, Chair of the BAMIN Steering Group and one of the founders of CARIN, accepted an invitation from the Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, to visit Ukraine, expressing her support for the ARMA delegation and emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and international partners.
The Head of the CARIN Secretariat, Andrea Tirlea, presented detailed statistics on the results of the network's activities for the year. Among the key achievements is the expansion of the network, in particular through the accession of Saudi Arabia.
Thanks to the active participation of the ARMA delegation, Ukraine has once again demonstrated its readiness to work on the recovery of criminal assets at the international level. Meetings with representatives of other countries, expanding partnerships and support from international colleagues such as Jill Thomas strengthen Ukraine's position in the global fight against crime.
The Assembly was marked by the transfer of the CARIN chairmanship from France to the UK. The UK representatives presented plans for the next year, including the development of interaction between network members, expanding cooperation with regional networks, and assisting countries in asset recovery.
Given the UK's close partnership with Ukraine, this step opens up new opportunities for further effective cooperation.
ARMA is confidently looking to the future and preparing for new challenges under the UK's CARIN chairmanship in 2025.
