The Deputy Head of ARMA for European Integration, Ambassador Grigol Katamadze, held a working meeting with representatives of the Criminal Intelligence Service of Austria in the framework of the CARIN General Assembly.
The participants of the meeting discussed in detail the specifics of asset recovery mechanisms in their respective countries. The Ukrainian side shared the experience of ARMA's work during the war, in particular in the area of management of seized assets, while the Austrian colleagues shared the methods they use to identify, seize and recover illegally obtained assets.
Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation between institutions. Grigol Katamadze initiated the development of an international interagency agreement that will provide for systematic interaction between ARMA and the Criminal Intelligence Service of Austria. This agreement will create a legal basis for the exchange of experience, joint training activities, development of effective tools for combating financial crimes and integration of European standards into ARMA's activities.
In addition, the parties agreed to organize online meetings in the near future to promptly resolve urgent issues, as well as to plan a series of interagency trainings. These measures will be the first practical step towards building a long-term partnership aimed at increasing the efficiency of asset recovery and strengthening the institutional capacity of both parties.
“This is just the beginning of a fruitful cooperation that opens up new opportunities for the implementation of the best European practices in Ukraine. We are confident that our joint work will contribute to strengthening our fight against financial crimes at the international level,” emphasized the Deputy Head of ARMA for European Integration.
ARMA will continue to actively develop international cooperation to ensure effective asset management and protect Ukraine's interests on the global stage.
