22 million hryvnias will work for the state: court decision in favor of ARMA. The money of the collaborators goes to the defense capability of the country

27-08-2024

The South-Eastern Interregional Territorial Administration of ARMA, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), successfully prevented the return of over 22 million hryvnias to a person who received russian citizenship and a permit to carry out economic activities in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The mentioned funds were in ARMA's deposit account in the state bank. After discovering information about a person's acquisition of russian citizenship, the National Agency made a decision to direct these funds to the purchase of Military Bonds. Thus, funds in the total amount of over 22 million UAH have been directed to support the country's defense capabilities, namely 18.9 million UAH in seized funds and 3.1 million UAH in accrued interest.

We are talking about the funds that were seized in December 2022 and transferred by the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). In November 2023, the Shevchenkivsky District Court of the city of Kyiv canceled the seizure of 18.9 million hryvnias, after which the lawyer of the owner of the asset repeatedly appealed to ARMA with the demand to return the seized funds.

Considering the current moratorium on persons associated with the aggressor state, ARMA refused to return the funds. The investigating judge of the Zhovtnevy District Court of Zaporizhzhia, in his decision of August 22, 2024, supported the position of ARMA, rejecting the complaint of the lawyer of the owner of the funds.

ARMA will continue to take measures to identify and manage the assets of persons associated with the aggressor state, ensuring the protection of the state interests of Ukraine.
