ARMA shares experience in investigating crimes against national security

15-03-2024

With the support of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the The Institute of Legal Personnel Training for the Security Service of Ukraine of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, an international roundtable on "Legislative Aspects of Combating Particularly Dangerous Crimes in Ukraine" was held in Kyiv on March 14-15, with ARMA as a participant.

The event was attended by representatives of international organisations, law enforcement agencies, central government officials and academics. During the roundtable, the participants discussed the current armed aggression in the light of international humanitarian law, as well as the prospects, possibilities and conditions for effective compensation for the damage caused to Ukraine due to the war.

ARMA was represented by Vitalii Chubaievskyi, Head of the Asset Finding and Tracing Department, who addressed the topic in a presentation entitled "ARMA's Role in Investigating Crimes Against the Fundamentals of National Security".

"ARMA is one of the key institutions that traces the assets of russian-linked individuals and corrupt officials both in Ukraine and abroad, as well as effectively manages this property. Over the past few months alone, together with law enforcement agencies, we have managed to find billions of dollars in assets of collaborators, thus significantly filling the state budget of our country," said Vitalii Chubaievskyi.

During the scientific discussions, there were developed a number of directions and strategies, as well as practical recommendations for addressing the issues that were discussed.

In conclusion, Vitalii Chubaievskyi thanked the representatives of the OSCE, the SSU and the The Institute of Legal Personnel Training for the Security Service of Ukraine of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University on behalf of the Head of ARMA Olena Duma for the invitation and the opportunity to share the experience of the National Agency and join the discussion of this important topic.
