The Head of ARMA, Olena Duma, together with the Deputy Head for European integration Grigol Katamadze and the Head of 2 Department for finding, tracing and Recovery of Assets in Foreign Jurisdictions, Anna Makarenko, held a working meeting with representatives of the National Crime Agency of Great Britain (NCA) and the International Anti-Corruption Coordination Center (IACCC).
During the meeting, the Head of ARMA presented the main results of the agency's work to foreign colleagues. She emphasized that one of the priorities is the expansion of the scope for finding, tracing of criminally acquired assets abroad: "Cooperation with such structures as NCA and IACCC is a real driver of progress for ARMA. Today, more than ever, we introduce new modern methods in the work of the agency and intensify interaction with international partners."
Olena Duma also spoke about the opening of public access to the Unified State Register of Seized Assets. According to her, currently 312,000 entries in all criminal proceedings are registered in the register, and 72,000 assets have already been transferred to the management and implementation of ARMA by court decisions.
She emphasized the importance of the experience of the British colleagues: "We were impressed by your efforts in freezing assets related to russian oligarchs and work in the field of civil forfeiture, management of cryptocurrency accounts and operation of registries. This is exactly the kind of experience that will help Ukraine on its way to economic recovery."
Deputy Head of ARMA Grigol Katamadze told his foreign colleagues about the continuation of the reform of the National Agency. In particular, he presented ARMA's plans for the implementation of the Office of Reforms under the National Agency, the Office of International Advisors under the Head of ARMA and called on partners to join cooperation in this direction.
For their part, the representatives of NCA and IACCC expressed readiness to intensify cooperation and exchange of experience with ARMA. They emphasized the importance of prompt exchange of information and joint efforts in the fight against corruption and other crimes.
In conclusion, Olena Duma thanked her partners for supporting Ukraine in a difficult time for the country and invited her colleagues to Kyiv: "I am convinced that strengthening cooperation and joint support can bring the international sphere of finding and tracing seized assets to a completely new level."
