During the four months of operation of the joint mechanism of cooperation between the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) to identify unjustified assets of declaring persons abroad, ARMA has traced assets worth over 4 million USD.
Among the assets found with signs of unreasonableness:
- luxury apartments in Miami (USA)
- apartments in Batumi (Georgia) and Prague (Czech Republic)
- real estate in a Hungarian balneological resort
- real estate on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria
- a luxury car Porsche Cayenne 2024 worth 77,000 US dollars
- more than 400 thousand euros on a bank account in Moldova
“The found assets are part of the joint efforts of the ARMA and the NACP aimed at tracing assets that were illegally transferred outside Ukraine as a result of corruption and other crimes. Dishonest officials must understand that Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure is united. ARMA will find hidden assets anywhere in the world,” said Pavlo Velykorechanin, Deputy Head of ARMA.
He added that in order to return such assets, the National Agency developed and approved the Procedure for the Sale of Seized Assets Abroad in July 2023. “Therefore, we expect these assets to be seized and transferred to the management of the ARMA. And the main thing is to send a request to the Prosecutor General's Office to legalize such a court decision within the framework of international legal assistance,” emphasized the Deputy Head of ARMA.
For reference: ARMA and the NACP have developed a joint mechanism for identifying unjustified assets. The relevant procedure was registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on July 19, 2024 under No. 1094/42439. The document defines clear mechanisms for cooperation between the two agencies to effectively identify assets that do not correspond to the declared income or cannot be substantiated by legal sources.
