Representatives of the Information and Analytical Support for Asset Finding and Tracing Department of ARMA took part in the introductory session of the Ukrainian programme Tax Inspectors Without Borders - Criminal Investigations" (TIWB-CI)
ARMA staff actively engaged in the researching process of the Ten Global Principles for Fighting Tax Crimes of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the OECD Tax Crime Investigation Maturity Model.
In addition, based on the results of the participation of ARMA staff in group discussions about key aspects of the fight against financial crime, possible barriers to progress in this area were identified and a list of recommendations for an action plan to fight tax crimes was developed.
"Participation in such a programme will allow us to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to create a solid methodological basis for further analytical work and will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of the fight against financial and economic crimes," said Deputy Head of ARMA Pavlo Velykorechanin.
ARMA expresses its gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to participate in such an important programme and continues to improve instruments for further professional development and cooperation in the fight against corruption and economic crimes in Ukraine.
For reference: The TIWB-CI Programme focuses on the Ten Global Principles for Fighting Tax Crimes of the OECD Council Recommendation, which sets out the basic legal, institutional, administrative and operational frameworks necessary for the effective prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of tax crimes as well as the recovery of the proceeds derived from crime.
The event was organised by the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine and the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine (ESBU). The event was attended by representatives of the NABU, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance, the State Financial Monitoring Service, the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the State Customs Service.
