On February 16, 2024, ARMA Head Olena Duma took part in a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU to consider Draft Law No. 10397, which provides for amendments to subparagraph 2 of paragraph 2-2 of Section V of the Final and Transitional Provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes", concerning the management of foreign currency funds.
During the meeting, Olena Duma informed the participants that currently ARMA has the ability to place funds on deposit or purchase military bonds in national currency, while in foreign currency, the possible actions are limited to placing them on deposit accounts with a maximum yield of 1%.
"The relevant changes will expand ARMA's ability to purchase military bonds for foreign currency," emphasized the head of the Agency, stressing that this can bring in 3-4% per annum, which will be much more profitable for the state budget.
According to Olena Duma, ARMA currently has over USD 20 million and EUR 8 million on foreign currency deposit accounts. By placing this amount on deposit, ARMA will significantly replenish the state budget and increase funding for defense projects.
The Committee decided that Draft Law No. 10397 is not inconsistent with the Association Agreement and the provisions of Directive 2014/42.
