Art experts confirmed this in their conclusion, which is at the disposal of ARMA. Almost all of the paintings are works by famous Ukrainian artists of the 20th century.
In general, experts from the National Art Museum of Ukraine inspected 285 paintings that have been stored there since 2022. Of these, 112 paintings were recognized as having cultural and historical value.
Therefore, during the next meeting of the Competition Commission, the issue of suspending the sale of these paintings and transferring them to the National Museum of Ukrainian History for safe keeping will be decided. The works that don’t have cultural or historical value will be sold through the electronic platform «Prozorro.Sale». The proceeds from the sale will go to the budget of Ukraine.
As a reminder, these paintings previously belonged to collaborator and traitor Viktor Medvedchuk and were arrested as part of criminal proceedings. Later, by court order, they were transferred to ARMA for sale. On April 19, ARMA announced the start of the sale of Medvedchuk's paintings. At the same time, at the initiative of the National Agency, in order to preserve the cultural heritage of Ukraine, the involvement of experts in the examination of paintings was initiated to conduct an art historical examination.
