Today is the second day of the annual general meeting of the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN) in Ohrid, Republic of North Macedonia. The Ukrainian delegation at the international event is represented by Vladyslav Zhornytskyi, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of ARMA, and Nataliia Kostynchuk, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Asset Recovery Institutions of ARMA.
The key topic of the second day of the meeting was the management of seized crypto assets, an issue that is becoming increasingly relevant in today's digital world. The participants focused on the following critical aspects:
- Strategic planning prior to cryptocurrency seizure
- Innovative methods of seizure and secure storage of digital assets
- Effective approaches to short-term and long-term management of crypto assets
Specialized trainings on crypto asset management, conducted by experts from the world-renowned Asset Reality company Thomas Abernathy and Jim Lyons, who specialize in the recovery, management and sale of confiscated crypto assets and other complex assets.
ARMA continues to actively strengthen international cooperation for the effective tracing and management of virtual assets. With criminals increasingly turning to cryptocurrencies to hide their illicit proceeds, BAMIN has become a true international platform for sharing best practices and the latest achievements between member states in the field of cyber asset management.
It is worth reminding that since September 2023, ARMA has been an official member of the BAMIN Steering Committee. This status opens up new horizons for the exchange of experience and the implementation of international best practices in the management of seized assets in Ukraine.
