On 19 September 2024, the Annual General Meeting of the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN) was held in Ohrid, Republic of North Macedonia. Ukraine was represented at this important international event by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
During three days of intensive work, the participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the management of seized assets. Particular attention was paid to innovative approaches to dealing with crypto assets and strengthening international cooperation in this area.
On the first day of the meeting, ARMA presented a report on asset recovery using the example of the seized luxury yacht Royal Romance. The topic aroused considerable interest among the participants and became the subject of a lively discussion, as well as attracted the attention of the international community.
An important part of the meeting was the continuation of training from Asset Reality. During the second day, practical cases of crypto assets seizure, their subsequent confiscation and options for sale were discussed in detail.
Vladyslav Zhornytskyi, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of ARMA, delivered a presentation on the significant benefits ARMA receives from participating in BAMIN activities: "ARMA's membership in BAMIN focuses on close cooperation with countries in the Balkan region, opening new horizons in the field of asset management and strengthening cooperation with European and international institutions."
Upon completion of the training, all participants received certificates from Asset Reality and the OSCE on the successful completion of the virtual asset management training.
In the framework of BAMIN, ARMA representatives also held a working meeting with Desislava Gotskova, Head of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) Secretariat. This meeting was another step towards strengthening ARMA's international cooperation and sharing best practices in the field of anti-corruption.
ARMA's participation in the BAMIN 2024 Annual General Meeting strengthened Ukraine's position in the international asset management arena. ARMA, through its active participation in international initiatives such as BAMIN and its cooperation with RAI, continues to strengthen its position as a key player in global efforts to combat economic crime.
