The Asset Recovery and Management Agency has appealed to the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (further - the National Council) with a request to check the program "Podrobnosti" of the “Inter” TV channel (PAT, a publicly held company "Inter TV channel"), which was broadcasted on January 17, 2019 at 20.00.
According to the Agency, the information disseminated in the plot is unreliable and caused significant damage to ARMA's business reputation at the national and international levels. The mentioned release of the program "Podrobnosti" violates:
- par. 13 part 2 of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" - dissemination of information that violates the legal rights and interests of individuals and legal entities, infringes on the honour and dignity of the person;
- Article 28 of the Law of Ukraine “On information” - information can not be used on the violation of human rights and freedoms.
In addition, ARMA did not receive from the aforementioned subject the right to refute allegations in unlawful actions and did not receive copies of the broadcasting plot.
ARMA appealed to the National Council with a complaint in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 64 of the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting", according to which a citizen or legal entity has the right to demand from the broadcasting organization refutation of the information spread in its program or transfer of information that does not correspond to reality and/or degrades the honour and dignity of the person.
The Agency asks the National Council to take actions and stop the violation of legislation by the above-mentioned broadcaster.
