02-09-2024

The Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), Olena Duma, held a working meeting with the Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Rostyslav Karandieiev. The meeting was held on the eve of an important vote in the second reading on the draft law No. 11280-1 on the peculiarities of managing cultural property and other assets initiated by ARMA.

During the meeting, key aspects of the management of cultural property and other assets in Ukraine were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the expediency of amending the current legislation, in particular, regarding the preservation of paintings previously owned by the high treasonist viktor medvedchuk as part of the national cultural heritage.

“It is extremely important to preserve our cultural heritage, which has fallen into the hands of criminals and traitors,” - emphasized Olena Duma. “The ARMA is ready to return to the state what rightfully belongs to it and will serve as a value for future generations.”

The heads of the agencies also discussed future legislative initiatives. These include improving the procedures for moving cultural property through customs, engaging MCIP experts to determine whether items belong to the cultural heritage, and developing mechanisms for transferring cultural property to state ownership.

The cooperation between ARMA and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy will contribute to more effective protection of the national cultural heritage and improvement of the state policy on the management and preservation of Ukraine's cultural property.
